Glock 29 10mm 'stainless'...'Bo-ified'...no, I didn't change my mind about Glocks and safety www.teapartycommunity.com/nomoreglockleg/info/
What makes this gun so unique to me is three things: the size, the caliber and the price. No one else (listening, Ruger, Smith, etc.?) makes a 10mm non-1911 pattern gun so easy to carry at such a reasonable price. Therefore, I am 'forced' to have it as my only piece on my '10mm buy list'. Now, back to the safety (and appearance) issues. If and when I make the buy, I will have a thumb safety installed. Currently, that is only offered by Cominolli Custom and I'm not too crazy about the appearance of the pistol after they cut the frame to install. Otherwise, it's a great product. I am currently researching whether there are any companies who would be willing to install a slide safety on my (future) gun. If I can find someone, that will be the route I'll go.
Recently found out that Dave Bowie of Bowie Tactical Concepts [ bowietacticalconcepts.com/ ] will 'stainlessize' <(my term) your Glock slide for $90. This includes not only stripping the factory finish off, but also sandblasting to give it a matte look and re-sealing to protect it from rust. You have only to send him the slide, not the gun, saving on shipping costs and hassle.
So, after being done the little 29 would look something like this, provided I find a Smith who will do what I want. Yes, I know the pic is not of a Model 29. It is being posted to (somewhat) represent the finished piece I have in mind.
Dave is a definite no-go on adding safeties to Glocks, as he told me in no uncertain terms. I'll have to be sure to send it to him first, so he doesn't have a coronary due to seeing a Glock with (oh, NO!) a thumb safety!
One last thing; I would only shoot and carry this little gem with the magazine extension installed, as I fully expect it will be a hand wallop to shoot.
