Description
BBCC is a Bible believing church ministering to "cowboy" minded folk with the gospel of grace and the revelation of the mystery found in Romans - Philemon.
Since we started several years ago, the Bible Believer’s Church has always been a “cowboy” minded group. We have also been aware that there are many, like us, who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and desire to fellowship with other believers, but simply are not as comfortable in a traditional church setting. So, we are now making a greater effort to reach out to cowboys, cowgirls, farmers, ranchers, horse lovers, truck drivers, hunters and anyone else who lives a country lifestyle. Following the direction of our apostle, Paul, we desire to be “made all things to all men, that” we “might by all means save some” (1 Corinthians 9:22). For us, that means continuing this ministry as the “Bible Believer’s Cowboy Church”.
What we do…
The BBCC creates an atmosphere that will allow each one who comes to feel loved, welcome and comfortable. We teach the Bible so that it makes sense to everyday working people (“cowboys and cowgirls”), and so that those who come learn how to understand the Bible for themselves. We preach messages that are doctrinally sound and practical for everyday living. Our weekly gatherings bring a feeling of belonging and an opportunity for service. We are a place where anyone, “cowboy” or not, can come to be strengthened and encouraged in God’s words so that they “might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (Colossians 1:9).
What we believe…
Salvation
We believe “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9). We believe that “the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation” (Ephesians 1:13) is “that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:3,4). When asked the question, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” Our answer is, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,” (Acts 16:30,31). We “are not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;” (Romans 1:16).
Scriptures
We believe that “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16,17). We believe that “The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” (Psalm 12:6,7). This means that we believe every word in the 66 books of the Bible, Genesis through Revelation, are inspired by God, and that these inspired words of God have been preserved perfectly without error for us today in the King James Bible.
Study
We believe that we have been instructed to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15). This means that God expects us to study the Bible; that study often requires work; and that proper study requires that the Bible be rightly divided. In order to do this, we study the Bible recognizing the different dispensations in God’s dealings with mankind through the ages.
Service
We believe the great commission to the body of Christ is that God “hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin: that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” (2 Corinthians 5:18-21). This means that we, as individual members of the body of Christ, are God’s representatives on earth and we are commissioned to tell folks that they can be made righteous before God through personal faith in Christ.
Our denomination…
The Bible Believer’s Cowboy Church is not affiliated with any denomination. However, we do have a strong doctrinal content in our teaching and preaching. We do this in accordance with the instructions given in 2 Timothy 2:2-4; “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” In 1 Timothy 4:13, we are instructed to “give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.” You have read the basic foundation of our doctrine previously under “What we believe…” To learn more, come study with us!
Do I have to be a cowboy to attend Bible Believer’s Cowboy Church?
The simple answer is, “No”! Although many of the cowboy types do attend BBCC, and we do have a bit of a “cowboy” flavor, folks from any background are welcome. If you are more comfortable rubbing elbows with everyday working people and you have an interest in learning to understand the Bible for yourself in a language you can understand then you will love BBCC.
How should I dress at BBCC?
Wear what is comfortable to you and modest. Some will wear boots, jeans, and cowboy shirts. Some will wear camouflage. Some will wear suits and dresses. All of these are appropriate. Dress should never keep you away. At BBCC we make ourselves at home with God and each other. We want you to come to BBCC like you come to Christ, just as you are!
