One of the most common ways to die in a motor vehicle is to strike a fixed object. Most probably went to sleep. Certainly sounds like seat belts were not engaged. Stats say about 90% of collisions are driver error. We've all driven tired, so it could have been any of us. Don't drink (even in small amounts-as a depressant, alcohol leads to sleepiness) when driving, stop and move around outside for at least a few minutes/per hour of driving, turn off your heater, turn on a/c, turn on your radio, shift positions, don't stare into oncoming vehicle's headlight glare, talk to a passenger (speaking tends to re-awaken the brain), avoid monotonous roads if possible (particularly interstates), slap your thigh or pinch yourself, etc.

Former Alabama running back Altee Tenpenny was killed in a car accident in Mississippi Tuesday evening.
His high school coach confirmed the reports to Al.com Wednesday morning. Tenpenny went to North Little Rock High School in Arkansas. News of Tenpenny's death first spread on social media Tuesday evening. Here's what Al.com found out from the Mississippi Highway Patrol:
Tenpenny was driving through Mississippi when he collided with a highway sign at approximately 5 p.m. just outside Glen Allan. The collision sent the vehicle airborne and it started rolling once it landed back on the ground, according to Corporal Tony Dunn of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Department of Public Affairs. The vehicle collided with a utility pole and Tenpenny was ejected from the vehicle.
Tenpenny was recently suspended by Nicholls State after he was arrested for possession and discharge of a firearm on Sunday. He was at the FCS school after he was dismissed from UNLV. He went to the Rebels briefly after he left Alabama.
Tenpenny had been suspended indefinitely by Nicholls State.
Alabama players reacted to the news of his death on Twitter as they found out.
